Start with the shape of your trip

One night on the road, several days of walks and a week in the mountains each need a different setup. For a short stop, clear access and arrival time matter especially. For a longer stay, think about storage, food and the chance to recover without rush.

If your trip includes a mountain route, ask in advance whether you can leave equipment, how an early departure works and whom to contact in the evening.

What to ask before paying

It helps to receive the answers in writing, so the terms do not get lost.

  • Exact address and arrival directions
  • Room category and actual number of beds
  • Bathroom, heating, hot water and connection
  • Check-in and check-out times
  • Meals and the possibility of an early breakfast
  • Cancellation and refund rules
  • A place for skis, rucksacks and wet clothing

Do not rely on distance alone

A few minutes by transport may be more comfortable than a noisy place beside a busy point. Compare more than kilometres: access, quiet, working hours and what happens after a walk.
